Located near the famous Medici Villa where Lorenzo the Magnificent was born and died, the church of St. John the Baptist in Careggi was built in the early 20th century, and is dedicated to the city’s patron saint. The building is characterized by simple shapes, a Latin cross plan, a single nave and a small presbytery. The square vault is undoubtedly significant as it distinguishes it from other churches where it is generally round.
