Church of San Pietro a Careggi

The church has undergone significant changes over the course of history. Documented since 1036, an earthquake in the 14th century destroyed the primitive three-nave building, which was rebuilt with a single nave. During the era of Renaissance Humanism, it enjoyed the patronage of the Medici, and the portico was built in the 1600s. Finally, it was completely rebuilt in the 19th century. The vault and the apsidal dome are decorated with beautiful nineteenth-century frescoes. Also worthy of note are the Madonna and Child by Michelino and Santa Filomena by Costoli.
