Piazza Poggi, located in front of lungarno the Benedetto Cellini and at the foot of Piazzale Michelangelo, is named after the architect Giuseppe Poggi, who was responsible for the urban extension project in Florence in the 19th century. The square is characterized by the presence of the Galileo Galilei Monument and the Porta San Niccolò. From here starts the walk that leads to Piazzale Michelangelo through the Ramps and water features designed by Poggi himself.
