The former Monastery of Santa Verdiana, located in Sant’Ambrogio district, was founded in the 14th century as a female convent. Over the years it has underwent various transformations, first becoming a prison and then a university campus. In 1986 it was acquired by the University of Florence, which used it as a teaching and learning centre at the School of Architecture.
