A typically 17th century portico with lowered arches conceals this simple little Romanesque church. San Giusto a Signano, situated on the street of the same name in an area which was once a Roman settlement, dates back to 1021. In the 13th century it was one of the suburban churches belonging to the Diocese of Santa Reparata, at that time still the cathedral of Florence. The importance of the church, although small and with a single nave, is also to be found in the valuable altarpiece depicting the Madonna and Child between Saints Peter and Paul and Angels attributed to Bernardo Daddi, one of the leading painters of his generation, and also a Crucifixion with Mary Magdalene at the foot of the cross by Counter-Mannerism artist Santi di Tito.
