A medieval fortress, a countryside villa for the great Renaissance families Nerli, Argenti, Tani and, eventually, the home of one of the leading exponents of neoclassical and Napoleonic art in Tuscany: Pasquale Poccianti. The architect, who is buried in the villa’s chapel, entrusted Giuseppe Poggi with the task of renovating the building. In the mid-1800s, the villa housed the city council in the poolhall. Today it houses a kindergarten. Since 1812, the villa has also been called “Il Platano” because of its imposing plants.
