This villa was named after the fresco commissioned to Giovanni da San Giovanni in 1632 by Grand Duchess Christina of Lorraine: The Quiet That Pacifies Wind. It had been also very popular with the female members of the Medici family, for they saw the villa as a place of refuge for meditation (both intellectually and spiritually). It is now considered to be one of Florence’s most significant buildings, the property of Regione Toscana and part of the University of Florence’s museum system. The villa is surrounded by a magnificent Italian garden, built between 1724 and 1727.
