It is a little-known fact that the sequence of frescoes Famous Men and Women by Andrea del Castagno, which are now on display in the former Church of San Pier Scheraggio ( at the Uffizi Gallery), was originally painted in what was once the portico of this fifteenth-century villa, then converted into a hall, and found in the mid-1800s. The villa now houses a replica of the frescoes and another original renaissance work: a group with the Madonna and Child beneath a drapery canopy drawn by two angels, with the figures of Adam and Eve by their side.
