Piazza Santissima Annunziata

Piazza della Santissima Annunziata is one of the most beautiful squares in Florence. Located in the historic city center, it is famous for the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata, where the legendary fresco of the Annunciation can be seen, and for the Spedale degli Innocenti, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi and Europe’s first orphanage. At the centre of the square is the Equestrian Statue of Ferdinando I de' Medici sculpted by Giambologna.
