Uffizi Gallery in Florence is one of the most famous museums in the world and one of the most visited in Italy. Founded at the behest of Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo as a collection of works for the students of the Accademia di Belle Arti, it houses an extraordinary collection of paintings from the 13th to the 16th century. In addition, the Gallery exhibits the largest number of Michelangelo’s sculptures in the world (seven), including the world-famous Donatello’s David.
