Opificio delle Pietre Dure

Opificio delle Pietre Dure is an institute with special autonomy of the Ministry of Culture that carries out conservation of works of art through restoration, research and training. It is also home to an important museum, in which works of craftsmanship of semi-precious stones belonging to the Medici and Lorraine families are preserved. The museum exhibition follows a chronological order, beginning with the works belonging to the first Grand Dukes of Florence and ending with those from the post-unification period.
