Florence State Archives hold a priceless historical heritage and tells the history of Florence and of Tuscany from the Middle Ages to the present day. Founded in 1852, it has been housed since 1988 in a modern building in viale della Giovine Italia, 6, where treasures, such as Le Justinian’s Pandects, a collection of Roman legal texts dating back to 533 A.D., and the Statuti delle Arti (namely regulations of the Corporations of medieval Florence) are preserved. The archive is open to scholars and researchers, and it also organizes exhibitions and cultural events.
