Piazza Gino Bartali is located in the district of Gavinana and it is dedicated to the famous Italian cyclist Gino Bartali who, in addition to being one of the most famous Italian cyclists ever, went down in history for his heroic deeds, which saved several Jews during the Nazi-Fascist occupation, and for which he was awarded the title of ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ and the Gold Medal for Civil Valor. In the center of the square there is a plaster statue of him measuring more than 3 meters. Piazza Gino Bartali represents a place of encounter and historical memory, honoring the figure of a sports champion who left an indelible mark on the history of Florence and Italy.
