Club Sportivo Firenze

145 years old and still going strong!  C.S. Firenze is a Florentine sporting landmark; in fact, it was the first club founded in Florence. It is a multi-sports club resulting from the merger of Velocipedistico Club Fiorentino (founded in 1870) with the Ardire Sports Club. It currently offers 5 disciplines: tennis, gymnastics, tamburello, cycling and football. The tennis courts are available also to non-members, while for the less sporty there is also a very popular restaurant.

A fun fact: do you know the origins of Fiorentina's purple shirt? The story is shrouded in mystery, but legend has it that it came about because of a washerwoman who accidentally washed some C.S. Florence match shirts, which were red and white, together with those for training which were blue.
