Dating back to the 12th century, this church partly retains its original structure and is well worth a visit for those who love old art. The 1300 fresco on the portal by an unknown artist and the ciborium in marble, bronze and glazed terracotta in the presbytery are both noteworthy The latter is the first example that has come down to us of the glazed majolica technique. In addition, there is the baptismal font created by Francesco Simone Ferrucci 1466, and the frescoes in the chapel dedicated to San Leonardo were painted by Domenico di Michelino around 1449. A final demonstration that this church is a real treasure chest of art is the fresco with St. Anthony between Saints James and Egidio by Giusto d'Andrea (1466), removed from the facade of Santa Maria Nuova and preserved here.
