Imposing with its crenellated walls in both the Ghibelline and Guelph style, the Acciaiolo Castle still inspires awe with its stern appearance and goes on attracting noir lovers. It is, in fact, in this castle, around the late 1500s – the Rucellai family built it in the 1300s and the Acciaiolis later took their place following Davizzi’s exile for life- that the owner Neri Davizzi kept his wife locked up for a long time and then killed her by poisoning her. The Castle now belongs to the Town of Scandicci which, after careful restoration works, converted it into a training and research center.
