At the highest part of the Giardino dell'Orticoltura there is an impressive flight of steps leading to the area known as the Orti del Parnaso, from which one can enjoy a breathtaking view of Florence. The flight of steps is built around a sculpture depicting a snake, or perhaps a dragon, completed by Marco Dezzi Bardeschi in 1990. The huge statue represents the serpent Python, famous in Greek mythology for being defeated by the god Apollo on Mount Parnassus. La Scalinata can be accessed from the Horticulture Garden at via Bolognese 17, or from Via Trento.
