Parterre

Originally (as the name suggests) it was an 18th-century French garden created for Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo. In the process of constructing the ring roads or avenues around the city, the architect Giuseppe Poggi also redeveloped Piazza della Libertà, but decided not to touch the Parterre. It was the architect Sirio Pastorini in 1937 who erected the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, which was the main exhibition center until the creation of the Spadolini Pavilion in the Fortezza da Basso.

Today it is a multifunctional structure with a parking lot, roof garden, metal walkways and the Rondò (a cultural center), as well as housing an ice rink during the winter.
