Palazzo della Gherardesca is an example of Florentine Renaissance architecture with a long history linked to the city’s aristocracy. Built between 1473 and 1480 for Bartolomeo da Scala by the architect Giuliano da Sangallo, it later became the property of the Medici before being transformed into a convent in 1800. The palace boasts splendid frescoes, a large garden and today it houses the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Firenze.
