The Jewish community of Florence is one of the oldest and most numerous in Italy. It is no coincidence, in fact, that in the city there are a magnificent synagogue and two cemeteries, of which this is the oldest.
Built in 1777, and in use until 1870 (Jewish law does not in fact provide for exhumation, so if there is no possibility of expansion it is necessary to find new land), the cemetery is of artistic and historical interest. It is a hidden corner, unknown even to most Florentines themselves. One of the few monumental tombs is of Cavalier David Levi in the shape of an Egyptian pyramid.
The price for admission is 5 euros (full ticket) and 4 euros (reduced). For appointments contact: prenotazioni@coopculture.it
