It is a little-known fact that Florence, in particular, the Quercione park, was home to Italy’s first
horse race, Corsa dell’Arno, established in 1827 by a group of gentlemen. After exactly twenty years, the Visarno Racetrack was built within the Cascine Park, where trot and gallop races are held, and which features also three grass tracks, a true rarity in Italy.
