This fascinating museum, housed in the former Church of San Pancrazio, displays 183 works by Marino Marini (1901-1980): sculptures, paintings, drawings and etchings with a thematic rather than chronological approach. One of the highlights of the collection is the imposing equestrian sculpture, Gruppo equestre dell’Aja, placed in the middle of the exhibition space and flooded with natural light, a key element in the artist’s work. The museum explores Marini’s early works and his attraction to Etruscan art, his affinity to Arturo Martini, and his international experiences marked by the relationship with great sculptors such as Moore, Arp, Calder and Tanguy. The crypt is used for temporary events and exhibitions. The building also houses the Rucellai Sepulchre, the work of Leon Battista Alberti.
